Needless to say, the original writing, in Arabic, centuries ago, was not so easy to read even by an Arab. I read parts of the original book as part of my education over 50 years ago. It is funny as it is satirical, and, obviously, a classic.
Al-Jahiz (776-869) was one of the greatest exponents of Arabic prose of all time.
